Historically, the bulk of the work Mission of Mission does in our community is due in large part to the passionate doctors, nurses, interpreters, and administrative volunteers who dedicate their time and expertise at our six clinic locations. Many of these volunteers are retired healthcare workers, and our patients are tremendously blessed to receive their care. Mission of Mercy maintains only a small medical and administrative staff to keep overhead costs low.
Due to the pandemic, our volunteer force shrunk dramatically to only 78 active volunteers, which is less than half of our usual volunteer force. The average age of our volunteers is 71, which means it wasn’t safe for many of them to continue volunteering in the clinics during the pandemic.
Now that the vaccine is widely available, we will be slowly welcoming back our volunteers who are willing to return, and we will also be recruiting new faces to join our team of volunteers and supporters. These individuals are truly the heartbeat of MOM, working to “heal through Love” each and every clinic day.
Whether you are new to MOM or an old friend, we encourage you to gather a few friends and check out one of our monthly MOM in Action tours being offered in Central Phoenix, Avondale, and Chandler.
In less than an hour, you’ll see firsthand the work that MOM is doing in the community, get a peek at our mobile RV, and walk away with some ideas about how you can make a difference by giving of your time and treasure to MOM.
